Patricia Nash ELKINS - Patricia L. Nash 71, of Elkins died Nov. 3 2009, in Springdale. She was born Sept. 22, 1938 in Truman to Arvile and Maybell Ellis Dangeau.

She worked as a children’ counselor for the Center for Youth Families in Little Rock for 30 years.

Survivors include a son Charles A. King of Fayette ville; two grandchildren.

There will be no visita tion. Graveside services will be private. A reception will follow from 4 to 8 p.m Saturday at Charles King’ house.

Doris Mae Plattner FAYETTEVILLE - Doris Mae Plattner, 86, passed peacefully from this life onNov. 3, 2009, in hospice care at Washington Regional Medical Center.

She was born Aug.

20, 1923, inChicago to Carl Ander son and Jeannette Pakulaz Anderson.

She was a retired execu tive secretary for Continen tal Can Co. and Material Service Corp. in Chicago She served in a secretarial capacity for Illinois Club of Fayetteville and the Fayetteville Newcomers Club. She was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Fayetteville and Ashburn Lutheran Church in Chicago.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Roy Plattner; two daughters Arlene Steimle of Middleville Mich., and Audrey Baxter and husband, Gerald, of Fayetteville; two grandchil dren, Zachary Baxter of Washington, D.C., and Madi son Baxter of Fayetteville a brother, Donald Ander son of Newhall, Calif.; and nephews, Steven and James Anderson and niece, Karen Sonalia, all of California.

She will be cremated following a private memo rial service with internment at the Fayetteville National Cemetery. Arrangements are by Moore’s Chapel.

- Paid John Sherrets MORROW - John E. Sher rets, 69, died Nov. 2, 2009 in Morrow. He was born Jan. 22, 1940, in Dayton, Ohio to Jesse and Mary Sherrets.

Survivors include three sons, Bret Sherrets of Fayetteville, Bart Sherrets and wife Sherry of Cane Hill and Chris Sherrets of Kansas City, Kan.; two daughters Rena Ball and husband Tim, of Farmington and Angel Millis and husband Kenny, of Prairie Grove;

brother; 17 grandchildren10 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 6 p.m. Monday at New Life Covenant Church in Prairie Grove.

Arrangements are by Luginbuel Funeral Home of Prairie Grove.

James L. Abshier LINCOLN - James L. Abshier, 62, a resident of Lincoln, passed away Nov. 3, 2009,at Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville.

He was born Dec. 6, 1946, in Lincoln, the son of Dowe Leach and Francis Lucille Keck Abshier.

James owned and operated Fab Plate in Prairie Grove since 1976. He also served in the National Guard.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his fatherand mother-in-law, Ernest and Jenna Whinery.

Survivors include his wife, Pam Whinery Abshier of the home; two sons, Jason Abshier of Lowell and Rodney Abshier and wife, Tracy, of Springdale; two brothers, Bobby Joe Abshier of Lincoln and Donald L. Abshier of Rogers; one sister, Debbie Kay Yeager of Fayetteville; two grandchildren, Jacque and Joseph Abshier; two nieces; and a host of family and friends.

Family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 6 to 7 p.m. at Luginbuel Funeral Home in Prairie Grove.

Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home with Jack Thompson o◊ciating.

Burial will be in Bethesda Cemetery near Morrow. There will be no graveside services held.

Allen Stidham SPRINGDALE - Allen Louis Stidham, 52, died Oct. 29, 2009, in Springdale.

He was born March 30, 1957, in Immokalee, Fla., to Lola Jean Sims and Louis Stidham. He was a carpenter and an accomplished singer.

Survivors include a daughter, Silva Ann Pierson of Fayetteville; a son, Jerrod Allen Stidham of Fayetteville; a grandson; two brothers, including Richard Stidham of Tontitown.

Services will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Large Pavilion of Lake Fayetteville.

Arrangements are by Benton County Memorial Park Funeral Home in Rogers.

Dalphia Cornett HUNTSVILLE - Dalphia Cornett, 94, died Nov. 3, 2009, in Huntsville. She was born April 27, 1915, in Loy to Henry Harrison and Callie Lyman Bowman.

She was a homemaker andattended the Lower Wharton Community Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Franklin Cornett; two sons, Clayton Cornett and Carl Cornett; one daughter, Freeda Frisby; and a grandson.

Survivors include six sons, Carmon Cornett of Okanogan, Wash., Clint Cornett of Prairie Grove, Kenneth Cornett, Gary Cornett and Jimmy Cornett, all of Huntsville, and Keith Cornett of Harrison; four daughters, Thelma Hill of Springdale, Stella Harp, Linda Sparks and Robin Umland, all of Huntsville; one brother, Cody Bowman of Huntsville; two sisters, Alma Carson and Maxine Dennis, both of Huntsville; 24 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Brashears Funeral Home in Huntsville.

Burial will be in Venus Cemetery.

- Paid Ronald Bryan Stover ROGERS - Ronald Bryan Stover, 45, of Rogers passed away Nov. 3, 2009 at Circle ofLife Hospice in Springdale.

He was born Oct. 10, 1964, in Muncie, Ind., to James Ronald Stover and Ann D.

Stover.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Cecil Stover, and his maternal grandparents, Edgar and Veachel Livingston, all of Livingston, Tenn.

Survivors include his daughter, Bryanna Stover of Rogers; his parents of Rogers; two brothers, Kevin Stover of Michigan and Greg Stover and wife, Dawn; and nephews, Paxton and Parker of Springdale; his paternal grandmother, Clarice Stover of Tennessee; uncles Robert Stover of Houston, Texas, and Richard, Ray and Russell Stover of Tennessee; aunts Reba Johnson, Ruby Jenkins and Rhonda Walker of Tennessee; and numerous cousins.

Bryan enjoyed life to the fullest and spent much of his free time boating and fishing. He loved all outdoor activities. He graduated from Rogers High School in 1983 where he participated in football. But his most enjoyable times were spent with the greatest love of his life, his daughter Bryanna. Family vacations during the summer were especially loved by them both.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Stockdale Funeral Chapel in Rogers with Pastor John Barclay o◊ciating.

Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday at Stockdale Funeral Services in Rogers.

- Paid Georgia Fay Tinker SILOAM SPRINGS - Georgia Fay Tinker, 59, of Siloam Springs passed away Nov. 1 , 2009, at Washington Regional Medical Center. She was born April 20, 1950, in Oklahoma.

She was an off-road end dump truck operator. She enjoyed spending time with her parents and children. She also loved dolphins and planting fl owers in the spring.

Georgia is survived by her father, Howard Patton of Arkansas; her companion of 21 years, Richard Desfosses of Arkansas; sons, Dean Weeks and Damion Scott of Arkansas; daughters, Eileen Salimas of Arkansas and Yvonne Smith of California; four brothers, Harold, Jackie, Gene and Theron Patton, all of Arkansas; three sisters, Velma Murray of Arkansas, Joyce Tull of California and Jeanette Glass of Arkansas; grandchildren, Kimberly Jackson, Eric and Michelle Fonseca, all of Arkansas, Teanna Love, Brandon Lee and Mary and Yvonne Smith, all of California.

- Paid Micki Ann Bleidt FORT SMITH - Micki Ann Bleidt, 65, died Nov. 3, 2009, at St. Edward Mercy Medical in Fort Smith.

She was born March 10, 1944, in Fort Smith to John Lester and Dorothy Ann Vann McAleb. Shehad lived in Fayetteville for 25 years before moving back to Fort Smith in 2003. She was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Fayetteville and First Presbyterian Church in Fort Smith.

Kind and compassionate, and a proud and devoted mother and daughter, she loved art, music, literature, gardening and her beloved pug, Walden. In her younger years, she was active with the Fort Smith Little Theatre. She attended college at the University of Arkansas.

She is survived by her son, Aaron C. Bleidt of Fayetteville; and brother, John H. McAleb and wife, Nicole, of Little Rock.

She was preceded in death by her mother in 2005 and her father in 1995.

Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Edwards Funeral Home in Fort Smith.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church in Fort Smith with burial to follow in Forest Park Cemetery under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.

Raymond James Smith ANCHORAGE, Alaska - Longtime Alaska resident Raymond James (Ray) Smith died Oct. 28, 2009,surrounded by his large family, after a courageous two-year battle with metastatic stomach cancer.

There will be a celebration of life at the Salvation Army fellowship hall, at the corner of DeArmoun and Old Seward on the 7th of November from 2 to 5 p.m. Please bring hors d’oeuvres to share.

Ray was born on May 4, 1940, to Lloyd and Mable Smith of El Dorado, Kan., where he grew up and graduated from high school. Ray went on to Phillips University in Emporia, Kan., where he met the love his life Patricia E. Tweedy on a blind date on Oct. 18, 1958. They were married on Aug. 30, 1959, in Springdale. Starting their family soon after with a son in ’60 and daughters in ’62 and ’64, during that time Ray finished his BS degree and he and his young family began their travels to teaching jobs in Iowa, Kansas and finally Alaska. After receiving the National Science Foundation Academic Year Institute Grant in 1968, Ray finished his MS degree in 1972 at Kansas State University, Emporia.

He taught biology fi rst at Sitka High School from 1968 to 1976 and after the move to Anchorage took a brief time o◊to explore other careers; he went back to teaching biology at AJ Diamond High School from 1983 to 1995.

All through his life, Ray enjoyed being busy and giving back to the communities that he lived in.

In Sitka he was a member of the Historic 9th Infantry, the Conservation Society as well as being a Scout leader, wrestling coach and basketball referee.

In Anchorage he became an active member and past president in the Mt. McKinley Lions Club participating in the many community and charity events sponsored by Lions Club such and the Miners and Trappers Ball, M.W. Sigh and Hearing Foundation, Special Olympics and was regular fi xture in the Sullivan Area hawking split pot ra◊e tickets at the Anchorage Aces games. Ray’s last gift back to his community was his eyes; his corneas were donated through Life Alaska.

After retiring in ’95, Ray with his wife, Pat, began exploring their true love of traveling, going to places like England, Scotland, Ireland, Venezuela, Mexico, Panama Canal twice, Australia, New Zealand, and all over the continental U.S. and Alaska, going all the places he only dreamed of going to on his beloved sailboat the Little Neva. His love of science took he and Pat to the Broken Mammoth dig inDelta Junction.

Ray is survived by the love of his life, Patricia; motherin-law, Marjorie Tweedy; brother and sister-in-law, Marvin and Beverly Smith; son and daughter-in-law, Phillip and Kimber Smith; daughter and son-in-law, Diana and Duane Barney; daughter and partner, Sheila Smith and Terry Sampley; grandchildren, Chester and Katrina Smith, Catherine and Sam Hatfield, Samantha and Rob Brandon, Dale Barney and Michelle Barber, Noah, Katrina and Sidney Kyle and Doug Smith; greatgrandchildren, Samuel, Alyssa, Kayven, Chelsea, Raina, Addison, Ashton, Jadeson and Gabriel; and extended family, Jean and Steve Schwarz and family, Anne and Larry Daniels and family, Rhonda Smith and family and Dan Barber and family.

The family would like to thank the outpouring of love and support from all of the wonderful friends and life connections made by Ray and Pat during their long and happy 50 years together.

Shirley A. Gann BENTONVILLE - Shirley A. Gann, 68, died Nov. 1, 2009, in Springdale. She was born July 15, 1941, in Leadhill, to Thurman and Opal De Shields Gann.

She was a medical transcriptionist for Northwest Medical Center-Springdale and for NARTI. She was a member of Radiant Life Church in Bentonville.

Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Friday at Radiant Life Church in Bentonville.

Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Co◊elt Cemetery.

Arrangements are by Benton County Funeral Home in downtown Rogers.
